Why This Is Bold: Trey Lance goes in the top-10 in best-ball leagues, but aggregate ADP has him at QB13.
Why This Will Happen: The quintessential late-round quarterback target this year is Trey Lance.

We want rushing from our fantasy quarterbacks, and Lance brings that element. In his two starts as a rookie, he ran the ball 24 times and scored 14.6 and 19.1 fantasy points, respectively. He was about a centimeter away from a rushing touchdown during that 14-point performance, too. 

For context, his 12 rushes per start last year are more than what we've seen from Lamar Jackson during his career.

Yes, I'm fully aware that we're working off of a small sample size here. We can't make huge assumptions based on two games. But we do have evidence that he'll probably run the ball. A lot.

This Shanahan system is a good one as well. Jimmy Garoppolo, a player no one seems to even want right now, finished second in the NFL in yards per attempt last season. They've got three great receiving weapons in George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk, and the running game is strong, too.

To me, Lance has the same type of profile as Jalen Hurts had entering last season. The difference? His arm talent -- and the talent around him -- could be much better.

At the end of the day, bold predictions are just looking at either side of some range of outcomes. For a bold prediction to come true for a player, he’s likely either hitting his floor, or he’s hitting his ceiling. So you can still get mathematical and nerdy when putting together these wacky forecasts. You don’t need to throw random takes at the wall and hope some of them stick.
