I'm in 11th grade and took the SAT last year (10th grade) on October SAT School Day with almost no prep and got a 1490 (780M, 710RW). For the August SAT, which I took yesterday, I spent a bit of time every day this summer studying (approx 20-30 min). My scores on my most recent practice tests were 1530 and 1540, both with perfect math scores, but I wasn't 100% focused while taking them and was sloppier than I would be normally.
I know that yesterday I made one silly mistake on the math section and I was unconfident about a few questions in the reading section. However, I am confident in all but one of my answers on the writing section.
The scores are released on October 8, hence the closing date.

I got a 1550 back in 1982. I got a 790 math (also made a silly mistake) and got a few educated guesses on the verbal and got. 760. I always suspected that this was due to luck more than skill but those few extra questions turns out to make a huge difference to elite colleges (1500 to 1550) which is stupid.
In the GRE I got a 800, 790 and 700 (old scoring system) which sort of validates by estimate.
Good luck!
