Heathrow Airport has not seen an increase in air traffic since 2000, staying at around 40,000 per month. Two decades of flat traffic figures at London's busiest airport have been cited among examples of Britain's economic stagnation.
Expansion plans to add a third runway have been proposed and stalled since as early as 2006. A third runway is currently planned, but Heathrow's CEO has said it may take 10 to 15 years to build. If completed, Heathrow projects the new runway to add 21,600+ flights per month.
This question resolves YES if Heathrow publishes data indicating that 50,000 or more air transport movements have happened in any month before 2030. Otherwise this question resolves NO on 1 Jan 2030.
Heathrow's monthly traffic data can be found here (see Monthly traffic statistics up to September 2024, excluding Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh, Naples, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton (Excel)).
