Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if, by December 31, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET, the United States federal government officially files a criminal indictment, criminal complaint/information, or a civil action (including a civil denaturalization complaint under 8 U.S.C. § 1451) in a federal court against Representative Ilhan Omar concerning allegations related to her immigration, naturalization paperwork, or marital status used for immigration purposes.
This market resolves to NO if no such federal criminal or civil legal action has been formally filed by the deadline.
Background
Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has faced persistent allegations from political opponents regarding her entry into the United States and her naturalization history. Scrutiny has centered primarily on claims regarding family paperwork submitted when her family arrived as refugees from Somalia in the 1990s, age and birth date details on naturalization documents, and unproven allegations concerning her 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
Omar has consistently denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations baseless and politically motivated. In October 2026, federal agents executed a search warrant on Omar's Washington residence in connection with an immigration paperwork inquiry, escalating legal and political scrutiny over whether the Justice Department will pursue formal charges or civil denaturalization proceedings.
