Is there a link to the study and what defines a reproduction? If we are talking about a simple print of an oil painting that was done impasto originally, these results definitely makes sense. If we are talking about something more akin to a counterfeit piece that also is impasto it doesn't. Similarly with photo copies of wood cuts, I'd expect no difference.
