Ahsha Safaí is at 12.5% on X right now.

10,000 units in a city of 815,000 people and 414,000 units, the city which defines "housing crisis" for the entire planet.

Oh, the times when America knew how to be ambitious.

@BrunoParga the State's requirement is 82k new homes in the next 8 years.

Oh wow, you're @america herself. Big fan, warts and all. I liked some older seasons a bit better though.

Now, as to the SF homes. 82,000 in eight years sounds... not too bad, but I don't think it's nearly ambitious enough considering the housing crisis. I think anything short of "build until market rates are affordable" isn't ambitious enough.

From the fact that this market exists, I imagine it is not at all certain that any of these candidates will deliver even 10k in one year; their expected peak might not even reach the average they'd need to meet that state requirement. It's sad.

@BrunoParga you are completely correct. SF Bay Area should have had more people than Tokyo metro in it, in 2010. the second best time to build for 1 billion Americans is now.

@america 100% true, but even if someone is the petty kind of person who wants to restrict the bounty of being American to the 1/3 of a billion people living there now, SF should aim at the very least to increase its housing supply by 50%.
