Now, as to the SF homes. 82,000 in eight years sounds... not too bad, but I don't think it's nearly ambitious enough considering the housing crisis. I think anything short of "build until market rates are affordable" isn't ambitious enough.
From the fact that this market exists, I imagine it is not at all certain that any of these candidates will deliver even 10k in one year; their expected peak might not even reach the average they'd need to meet that state requirement. It's sad.
@BrunoParga you are completely correct. SF Bay Area should have had more people than Tokyo metro in it, in 2010. the second best time to build for 1 billion Americans is now.
@america 100% true, but even if someone is the petty kind of person who wants to restrict the bounty of being American to the 1/3 of a billion people living there now, SF should aim at the very least to increase its housing supply by 50%.
