As mentioned below the main benefits are 1) getting a feel of Putin's world view
2) first hand experience is something that is being talked about and spun very hard.
You could read the transcript but it's going to be missing a lot of the relevant information.
That being said it's long and most of what is said isn't that important. You could have it on one screen and play a game on the other. (Cube Chaos, tier 3 but you'll like it)
I think your time would be more effectively spent reading the transcript, or having GPT summarize the transcript rather than watching it. It looks like Putin's words on Carlson's site were dubbed over with a live translation, so the only advantages to watching it would be to see Putin's body language and to hear Carlson's intonation. The former sounds like it's pretty unifom throughout (relaxed dictator-in-control-of-the-situation pose), and so a few random snippets will give a feel for Putin's body language. The attitude of Carlson is only interesting for how American politicos will interpret it. IMO what's really interesting here is the perception and story Putin wants to sell to (conservative) Americans and Europeans, and maybe to Russian elites if the interview is made available without dubbing. Here's the transcript: https://edwardslavsquat.substack.com/p/putin-carlson-interview-full-transcript
@brp this is a fair point though it depends on what value a person has for nonverbal communication and the dynamic between people. we all have different ideas of how much that may matter of course. I preferred listening (even though the dubbing is obviously a downside), personally.
