In 2023, no women were nominated for best director, sparking the #OscarsSoMale controversy. Will this happen in 2025?
Historically, only 8 women have been nominated for Best Director.
I don't expect any edge cases, but for simplicity it will count for YES even if it is a split nomination (e.g. EEAAO for Daniel Kwan + Daniel Scheinert).
Some plausible contenders include Coralie Fargeat ("The Substance") and Payal Kapadia ("All We Imagine As Light").
This market will close before nominations are announced on January 17th.
