These options resolve YES if Tim Walz says the exact sequence of words during his VP acceptance speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

  • This will follow the same rules as the Trump-isms Debate Megamarket—see the original market for more detailed resolution examples.

  • Resolution might take a few days because I'd like to consult the transcript.

  • You can add your own responses, but note (1) I intend to be strict with resolution (following the rules below), & (2) I reserve the right to edit all entries to better match the spirit of the market.

Resolution examples

  • Needs to be exact same words (in order): "not going to go back" does not count for "not going back".

  • Needs to match tense & pluralization: "aborted" or "abortions" do not count for "abortion".

  • However, any punctuation is fine ("Billions! And billions..." counts for "billions and billions"), and contractions can count as the expanded words ("we're not going back" is equivalent to "we aren't going back").

  • Different ways of transcribing the same word count: "January 6th" = "January sixth".

  • To add flexibility to an answer, use parentheses or an "or". So " 'Free lunch(es)' or 'school lunch(es)' " matches "free lunches", "school lunch", & etc.

@traders 72 hours until the debate. Place your last minute bets on what Walz will say:

No.

The brilliant newstrading strategy of "believe the speaker when they say they're about to finish"

the secret is it only works for dems

400 wen?

Population of his town. Norris rekt.

bought Ṁ500 Answer #u01elz17uz NO

He said "President Joe Biden", not "President Biden". Rule asks for exact order

This was the best way to win in this market. When he covered a topic without saying it exactly, you could pile into no. He wasn't going to mention Yale twice.

I made the opposite move but quickly corrected it by selling the Yes at 60-70

bought Ṁ2,000 "National Guard" YES

He said "army national guard" early on

I'm closing trading now that the speech is over and will look for the ones I may have missed. anything else I'll leave for Ziddle.

bought Ṁ150 "National Guard" YES

Darn, right as I was about to drop a little more lol. Happy hunting!

He said “400” when describing where he grew up, at the start.

sold Ṁ533 Answer #ip7hyf8nbx NO

Confirming this, despite holding lots of NO. Missed it.
He said it in letters though, not in numbers 😂

Ugh, I remember now.

"National Guard"

@shankypanky anky see stuff resolving live, he said Minnesota "National Guard" a while ago.

“Coach”
bought Ṁ50 “Coach” NO

@Ziddletwix Didn't he say "coached"?

@shankypanky Can we confirm if I was wrong or not here?

I'm in the middle of watching it again to clear all the options. I'll look for the specifics on "coach" and come back to you.

"Needs to match tense and pluralization", and "coached" is past tense of verb coach

confirmed that @Panfilo was right and he said "coachin' " and "coached" but not "coach" - so this option has been re-resolved to No

He said "President Biden"

bought Ṁ50 Answer #9sd1mwzo8u NO

"President Joe Biden". Not quite the same.

@mods Is there a plan for live resolution? Merket creator said it's up to you.

today is my bday so i'll be out celebrating w/ gf tonight which sounds more fun than watching the speech live. in any case, with these mention markets whether or not i watch it live i always wait to resolve options until i can reference the transcript & rewind (to be certain i didn't miss anything)

in the meantime, mods can do whatever they like with this market (including resolving options early if they're certain). but heads up that i won't be resolving anything myself until the transcript is out (i.e. how i always handle these markets). best of luck live trading 🫡

Happy Birthday! 🎈
