I will use the "Domestic Opening" listed on BoxOfficeMojo, however it is defined (e.g. typically the 3-day FSS weekend + previews).
For example, the "Domestic Opening" for "A Quiet Place Part II" (2020) was $47,547,231. This is the equivalent number I will use.

Re: closing on Thurs, I'm just experimenting a bit with my markets. When I don't have the time to closely track box office myself, I don't necessarily want to pay for the full liquidity, so I'm seeing how well it works to run an opening weekend market that closes on Thurs.
Live trading can be part of the fun, so others should feel free to make a version that stays open for live trading if they want to (and I might run those too if there's a movie I think I'll actually be tracking & betting on myself).
