Will the substance Psilocybin be removed from Schedule 1 in the UK by the end of 2023?

NO

If the system changes such that schedule 1 has different rules, but is still called something equivalent and matches up roughly to the UN schedules, I will still count it as 'in schedule 1'.

If schedule 1 no longer exists in recognisable form then resolves 'Yes'.

Pretty sure it's referred to as "Class A/B/C" rather than "Schedule 1/2/3"

predicted NO

@ElliotDavies There are both schedules and classes in UK law on controlled substances. They are for different purposes, I won't go into it here as it would be lengthy but look up the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations.

Schedules are what determine how strict controls are for use in medicine or research. Schedule 1 is for substances with 'no medical use', research can be done under strict conditions with a licence.

@WXTJ Gotcha - thanks for info

Can it be removed while still being used by doctors?

Heroin/morphine suggests it wouldn't need to be removed.

predicted NO

@CromlynGames It is not used by doctors except in research. Heroin and morphine are not in schedule 1 . Psilocybin is more strictly controlled than heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, barbiturates, ketamine.
