On April 30, 2025, wildfires spread near Jerusalem, amidst Hamas calls for Palestinians to commit arson against forests. When will the fires be successfully extinguished? Times are in Israel time.
I will not bet on this market.

@DanielFox9fff I agree! I found multiple English sources that say on May 2 there was a press release saying the fires were extinguished – but they don’t list the specific time (to make sure that this did, in fact, occur on May 2 in Israel time). However I found this tweet about the press release that confirms it happened on May 2 Israel time: https://x.com/NetanelWorthy/status/1918313572947370319
@invisiblevision Actually, I suppose I could maybe use a bit more clarification from @UnspecifiedPerson what “extinguished” means. Does it mean under full control with just some smoldering patches left (as the May 2 press release seems to suggest) or does it mean completely extinguished (no deployment of firefighters needed).
If it’s the latter, I’m not sure if we’re even there yet today – and even less sure if we’d even see a report about when that point is reached in the English media I have access to. Most of the articles I’ve seen talk about May 2 as the day the fire is “over” for all intents and purposes.
