This market spans only the 10 games in the Match Week (only those that happen within the scheduled Friday - Monday window).

All bets should relate to at least one of the PL games in the week and should be written in a way that can be resolved once the final game is complete.

Submit your own responses, but try to keep them unique and stick to the existing markets for any bets on the outcome of specific games. I reserve the right to N/A any options (e.g. if they're too duplicative or subjective).

I'll do my best to resolve options quickly and accurately. You're encouraged to provide evidence in the comments to assist with this.

@traders I created market for week 2. If I get it together and no one else has done it, I’ll set up market for the matches themselves tomorrow.

Is anyone planning to run markets on match results this year? I didn’t see any. I can start if there’s interest

@Tyler31 I'm interested in it if you want to start, I was looking for one at the start and didn't see any. There was a regular one all of last season.

@Tyler31 Do it. I’m gonna set up the Bundesliga matches

@dkh ok, I gave it a try. first time doing a market on the matches or creating via api so hopefully i didn't mess it up.

@Tyler31 able to share the code? attempting the same for Bundesliga but getting errors. the first couple were explicit and told me what to fix; the current one just fails with no help

@dkh yes, but won’t be until tonight. Did you figure out the liquidity tier parameter? That was one thing I guessed my way too; didn’t seem to be in api docs.

@Tyler31 yup, got by that one. is the api the only way to create these grouped markets?

@Tyler31 oh no, I got mine to post but with each match is listed as having a 9% probability lol

@dkh haha, oh. no. just DM'ed you the code I used. there is a param on that.

...

@Tyler31 one parameter off :( so does this nonsensical market just exist as a monument to me being dumb, or can i/someone do something about it? posted in discord

@dkh you can unlist it (if you click edit in top right) and edit the name of the market to say “don’t bet” or something like thay

You might have an issue resolving this one...Timed at exactly 05:00, Chris Wood scored Nottingham Forest’s earliest ever goal on MD1 of a Premier League season.

@Silverpawn Ive always figured if it hits stat line as 5’ or earlier it should count. Do people have objections to that?

@Tyler31 no problem on my side

@Tyler31 Yes I agree with that. I think showing 5' means in the 5th minute ie. 4min 1sec to 5 min 0 sec and all reports showing exactly 5:00 or 5' seems to support that.

@Tyler31 I think it shouldn't count in this case – the ball entered the goal when the display was showing 5:00, which means 300 seconds and some amount of milliseconds had been played, so the first 300 seconds (= 5 minutes) had already passed by the point the goal was scored.

@arturys8IE do you have a source?

That’s not what I’d have naively thought nor what ChatGPT is telling me

@Tyler31 https://streamin.me/v/ddfbbbii here's a (pirated) link from r/soccer showing that the ball is not in the net at the moment when the timer hits 05:00

@arturys8IE @Tyler31

To me it looks like the moment the ball entirely crosses the goal line, the clock is still showing 05:00, though the angle isn't great

On the Premier League website, it shows the 5', which means it was in the 5th minute, so I think it should resolve yes

@jonathan Agree with that. The official Premier League website displays 5', meaning the goal was scored in the fifth minute.

bought Ṁ5 NO

@arturys8IE

Wow you're right.

The ball is still only halfway between the striker and the goal at the 5:00 minute mark.

The clock begins showing five minutes and zero seconds right at the 0 millisecond mark, which means if you're seeing 5:00, that means a bit of time has transpired since then, and the game is in its sixth minute.
I would bet bigger but I see the market owner has already bet yes, so I don't trust him to resolve this honestly lol.

@Tyler31 ChatGPT did in fact agree with what Artur said, and it did so several times in that conversation you shared.

@jessald @arturys8IE Do you have evidence that the moment the clock shows 05:00, that means 5 minutes and 0 seconds have elapsed? Because when the ball enters the goal, the broadcast clock still shows 05:00, and that could still be before 5 minutes have elapsed if the clock rounds up or rounds to the nearest second.

Also, I believe that the official clock is the clock on the referee's watch, not the broadcast clock, so there could be a slight discrepancy and we have no way of knowing whether the broadcast clock was accurate.

Regardless of how the broadcast clock works and whether it was accurate, I think this should resolve to yes as I stated earlier, because the Premier League website with the official results lists the goal as having occurred in the 5th minute.

@jonathan Well I've never heard of a clock rounding up. That's generally not how clocks work.

I guess it's possible it could be inaccurate. It's also possible that the Premier League website is wrong. Can you link to what you're looking at? All I saw was informal reporting, not like a table of official goal times recorded with precision.

@jessald In some sports, such as track & field, the clock rounds up. Even if the broadcast clock here doesn't, it could also be rounding to the nearest second instead of rounding down. I wasn't able to find conclusive evidence on which of the 3 ways it rounds.

https://www.premierleague.com/en/match/2561898/nottingham-forest-vs-brentford?tab=recap

That's the link I'm looking at, and on the left where it lists the goals, it shows the first goal as having occurred in the 5th minute.

Whether or not that is accurate, the website's results should be official, and we have no way of knowing what time was on the referee's watch which I think is the official clock.

@jonathan Well there's an easy way to check how the clock works. Simply watch the beginning of the game. Does the clock start at 0:00? Does 1 second transpire before it reads 0:01?

The data displayed on the website was likely just entered informally and I don't see any reason to trust it over the timer displayed on the screen.

@jessald At the beginning of this game, the clock wasn't displayed until around 20 seconds into the game, so we can't check that way. And since the broadcast clock isn't official, trusting it over the results released by the Premier League doesn't make sense. Even if it was entered informally, which I don't know if is the case, it is as close to official information as we have from the data given by the Premier League, as far as I know.

@jonathan I will revisit tomorrow but currently I’m planning to resolve YES, for the reasons stated.

But I also have mana on YES so will refund anyone who feels wronged by that and bet before the goal happened.

Appreciate all the comments and information. Never expected this to end up controversial

@Tyler31 Ok, thanks!

On reflection, I think best option is to stick to official stat line, given that it seems clear the intent of the number on the score line matches the intent of the market.

I will clarify going forward but unless it is really egregious I don’t want to resort to our video replays. As another example, if a goal was attributed to halaand, even if we all looked at video and thought the official attribution was wrong, I’d stick with official. Same for own goal.

@Tyler31 I'm happy with this resolution, thanks for putting in the effort!
