I am about to begin my practicum as a high school teacher (math and social studies). School teachers can get in trouble for controversial online activities.
Before 2029, will something I posted online come back to bite me in a professional context? This could be a parent making a complaint, or an awkward conversation with an administrator. A student seeing something is not sufficient by itself, unless they bring it to the attention of an adult or something crazy happens like they try to blackmail me.
By 2029, I will have hopefully acquired a permanent position and thus be mostly immune to all but the most serious accusations of improper behaviour.
I have given plenty of hot takes over the years, and had my fair share of heated political arguments online. There are probably things I've done online that I can't think of right now that look bad in the wrong context.
I have not kept my real name secret, but not really advertised it either. Nothing concerning comes up in the first few pages of results if you google my name.
I have gone by Tumbles online consistently on all platforms for many years.
I'm Canadian.
