By the way, Trump already signed 89 executive orders.
Background
Donald Trump began his second term as President of the United States in January 2025. In his first month alone, he signed 73 executive orders, 23 proclamations, and 12 memorandums, totaling 108 executive actions. This represents a significantly faster pace than most recent presidents.
Executive orders are directives issued by the President that manage operations of the federal government. They have the force of law but can be overturned by federal courts if deemed unconstitutional or by subsequent presidents.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve based on the official count of executive orders (not including other executive actions like memorandums or proclamations) signed by President Trump between January 20, 2025, and January 19, 2026, inclusive.
The count will be based on the official numbering system used by the Federal Register and the White House. Only documents formally designated as "Executive Orders" will be counted.
If Trump leaves office before completing his first year (through resignation, impeachment, or other means), the market will resolve based on the number of executive orders signed during his time in office within that first year.
Considerations
Many of Trump's initial executive orders are facing legal challenges, which could affect his strategy for issuing future orders.
The pace of executive order issuance typically slows after the initial months of a presidency.
For reference, during his first term, Trump signed 55 executive orders in his first year. President Biden signed 77 in his first year.
