Background
Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have faced each other 9 times in their NFL careers, with Allen holding a 4-1 record in regular season matchups. However, Mahomes has dominated their playoff encounters, winning all four meetings (2020 AFC Championship, 2021 AFC Divisional Round, 2023 AFC Divisional Round, 2024 AFC Championship). Most of these games have been highly competitive and have featured great quarterback play, including the famous "13 seconds" shootout in 2021 that went to overtime.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve YES if Josh Allen as starting Quarterback (takes first offensive snap) defeats Patrick Mahomes as starting Quarterback (either can play for either team) in any NFL playoff game during their careers. The market will resolve NO if:
Either player retires or permanently leaves the NFL before such a victory occurs
For resolution purposes:
Both quarterbacks must start
The game must be an official NFL playoff game (not preseason or regular season)
Considerations
Both quarterbacks are young (Allen is 27, Mahomes is 28) and likely have many years of playoff competition ahead
The Bills and Chiefs are both consistently strong AFC teams, increasing the likelihood of future playoff meetings
Conference realignment or team changes could affect the frequency of potential playoff matchups
