I recently watched “The Boy and the Heron” at the cinema and it was the first movie I have ever watched from Studio Ghibli. I did not love it, but it made me curious to watch the other movies. I then watched the ones on the list the following days and fell in love with arguably the cutest animated character ever created.
1,000@Soli I wouldn't be able to name a favourite but if you're enjoying the films I would add Kiki's Delivery Service, The Wind Rises, and Ponyo to the list. There are a couple set during WWI (Porco Rosso) and WWII (Grave of the Fireflies - I haven't watched it yet) that are a different vibe from these others.
I went to a Ghibli film festival some years ago and saw a sweet little short that I liked. I'll see if I can find it and link you.
