1.) looking at my previous clarification, "throw my support behind Trump" sounds like he is "supporting his candidacy"
2.) major media are also calling it an "endorsement"

Fair enough

“Mr. Kennedy has not endorsed president Trump,” RFK campaign spokesperson Stefanie Spear said in a statement to the Washington Post.

Trump Warms to Kennedy and Belittles Walz in Fox News Appearance

Donald J. Trump said he would welcome the endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is expected to end his presidential campaign.

Why did this jump?

idk but there were incorrect statements going around yesterday - Kennedy refuted them - that he'd offered to drop out and endorse Trump for a spot in his cabinet. I suspect some people may have been news reading on that.

@Simon74fe can you give more context for what qualifies as an endorsement?

Any public statement that indicates he is supporting Trump’s candidacy (e.g. "I believe Trump is the best candidate", "I encourage people to vote for Trump”, …)

Him saying he will vote for Trump would also count

why does this close in December? Would a post-election endorsement count?

Sorry about that. It should be before the election. I changed the close date
