The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is the codification of the general and permanent rules promulgated by the departments and agencies of the federal government. The number of total pages published in the CFR annually provides a sense of the volume of existing regulations with which American businesses, workers, consumers, and other regulated entities must comply.

Published by the Regulatory Studies Center. For figures up to and including 2021, click here. For a CSV click here.

What will be the 2024 figure? Resolution will wait until the 2024 figure has been published, presumably in 2025 or 2026.

Defaults to using the figure from the Regulatory Studies Center. If another institution publishes the same figure, and if they use the same methods to count "pages", then we could use their number.

If it goes out of range, we'll resolve as close as possible at the range's boundary.
