This market resolves YES if after Discord's global age verification rollout but before the end of 2026, there is a publicly confirmed data breach involving age verification data tied to Discord's platform, whether through Discord itself or through a third-party vendor. The breach must be disclosed by Discord, a vendor, law enforcement, or credible cybersecurity researchers.
If Discord conducts a global age verification rollout in 2026 but there is no publicly confirmed data breach involving age verification data, this market resolves NO.
Otherwise, such as if Discord does not conduct a global age verification rollout, this market resolves N/A.
Background
Discord intends to roll out age verification globally beginning in early March 2026, requiring users to engage in an age verification process to change certain settings or access sensitive content. Users can choose to use facial age estimation or submit a form of identification to vendor partners. Discord and its vendor k-ID claim that they do not permanently store personal identity documents or video selfies; images of identity documents and ID match selfies are supposedly deleted after age group confirmation.
However, Discord has recent precedent for mishandling of sensitive user data leading to breaches. In October 2025, around 70000 users had sensitive data including government ID photos exposed after hackers breached a third-party vendor that Discord used for age-related appeals, despite Discord's claims that the images in question were deleted promptly after use.
