Resolution Criteria
The series consists of two Test matches, with the first Test at Eden Gardens (November 14-18, 2025) and the second Test in Guwahati (November 22-26, 2025). The winner is determined by who wins the most Test matches in the series. If both teams win one match each, the series is drawn and resolves to "Other." Resolution will be verified via ESPNcricinfo.
Background
The Test series forms part of the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship. India has lost just one Test series at home since 2013, giving them a significant home advantage. South Africa recently won their first World Test Championship title defense match against Pakistan, and have shown they can win with spin on the subcontinent.
Considerations
The first Test at Eden Gardens has produced extremely difficult batting conditions, with India reducing South Africa to effectively 63 for 7 in their second innings after 15 wickets fell on day two. Such extreme pitch behavior could significantly impact the series outcome.
