Trump Accounts (IRC §530A, created by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act) are currently limited to children. In October 2026 Treasury said every eligible child under 18 with a valid Social Security Number now has a Trump Account, which a parent or guardian must claim to manage. Families and employers can contribute up to $5,000 a year, and the beneficiary gets access at 18. Philanthropists have become a major funding source. The Dells gave $250 each to the first 25 million children who signed up. On Oct 19, 2026, Elon Musk said he would give one of his SpaceX shares to every “kid” in America next year, calling it “the first of many,” but he did not say what age counts as a kid. There has also been talk of an adult version. At the July launch event, Trump said he was working with Congress on a similar program for adults, loosely modeled on Australia’s. Earlier, Semafor reported the administration was looking at a retirement plan for adults without employer plans, possibly by reviving MyRA, without going through Congress.

There's been rumors of the Trump Accounts expanding to Americans under 40 years old, see https://x.com/EricBalchunas/status/2112528840593387590?s=20 https://nypost.com/2026/10/19/business/tech-money-from-anthropic-and-spacex-is-transforming-philanthropy-but-will-that-cash-benefit-woke-causes-or-real-americans/

Resolves YES if, by 11:59 PM ET on December 31, 2027, a qualifying program has been legally established, through a signed federal law or a final federal rule or executive action that is in effect. A program qualifies if it meets all of these:

  1. Broad adult eligibility. Essentially every U.S. citizen aged 18–39 with a valid SSN is eligible. There can be no income test, no employment test, and no birth-year window that leaves out a meaningful share of that age range. A program covering a wider range, such as all adults, counts.

  2. One account per person. Each eligible person has, or may open, a single designated account under the program.

  3. Third parties can contribute. People other than the account holder, such as employers, philanthropists, the government, or the general public, can put money or assets into the account. Not all of the listed third parties have to be able to contribute, but something like Elon Musk gifting a share of one of his companies to all such accounts should be possible.

  4. Federally created or sponsored. The account type is created by federal law or run or sponsored by the federal government. Private programs do not count, even large ones.

The program does not have to be called a “Trump Account,” and it does not have to use §530A. Accounts do not need to be open and funded by the deadline, but the program must be legally established and not merely proposed.

Does not count:

  • Existing Trump Accounts held by people who have turned 18. Those accounts continuing into adulthood is not an expansion.

  • Ordinary IRAs, 401(k)s, or changes to their contribution limits.

  • An adult retirement account, such as a revived MyRA, that only the holder or their employer can fund, with no broader third-party contributions.

  • A program covering only part of the 18–39 range, such as only ages 18–25.
