Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if the official nominee of the Republican Party (GOP) wins the Mississippi gubernatorial election held in 2027.
This market resolves to NO if a candidate representing any other political party or an independent/unaffiliated candidate wins the election.
Resolution will be determined based on official certified election results published by the Mississippi Secretary of State. If a recount, legal challenge, or runoff occurs, the market will remain open until the certified winner is officially declared by election authorities. If the election is postponed past 2027, it will resolve based on the next scheduled regular election for the term beginning in January 2028.
Background
Mississippi holds its statewide elections in odd-numbered years preceding U.S. presidential elections. The 2027 gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 2, 2027.
Current Republican Governor Tate Reeves is serving his second term and is constitutionally term-limited from seeking a third consecutive term, creating an open-seat contest. The Republican Party has held the Mississippi governor's mansion since 2004, following Haley Barbour's victory in the 2003 election. In the 2023 election, Reeves won re-election against Democratic challenger Brandon Presley by a margin of 50.9% to 47.7%.
