Resolved
NO
Details: The creator of a market would be allowed to set a default resolution. This is used if the creator doesn't resolve the market manually before time X after market close. X would also be set by the creator. This market resolves YES when it happens or when the market closes and the feature is announced. Otherwise it resolves NO on close. Previous market including discussion (closed on 2022-05-21 and resolved NO): https://manifold.markets/MilliOnaire/will-manifold-markets-make-it-able Overlapping suggestion (forcing default solution): https://manifold.markets/TamuzHod/will-manifold-markets-implement-a-d-42f10c4e90b1 Jun 2, 8:36pm: Disclaimer: I plan to resolve this market as NO for the following scenario: All markets resolve to <resolution> <duration> after market close. <resolution> can't be set by the creator. There are two main reasons for my decision: 1) <resolution> can't be set by the creator 2) The auto resolution is forced on all markets Feel free to try to change my mind but bet accordingly for the moment. I seem to not be able to add to the description right now so I'll add my update here in the comments: Disclaimer: I plan to resolve this market as NO for the following scenario: All markets resolve to <resolution> <duration> after market close. <resolution> can't be set by the creator. There are two main reasons for my decision: 1) <resolution> can't be set by the creator 2) The auto resolution is forced on all markets Feel free to try to change my mind but bet accordingly for the moment.
Auto-resolve to PROB seems particularly useful for many styles of market.
Upsides: * Markets that default to NO (will y happen before market close?) can be forced to do so. * Creators could set default solutions if they fear they might forget about Manifold Markets. * More complex (creator defined?) mechanisms could be defined down the line for automatic market resolution. Downside: * More Options = More possibilities for bugs and more clutter * Needs to be programmed
