Title: Which airline will default on its debt first by Dec 31, 2029?

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE is "Other" ONLY IF no airline AMONGST THOSE LISTED defaults before on on Dec 31, 2029. A default by a different non-listed airline does NOT count as "other".

To emphasize: Other non-listed airlines are NOT RELEVANT to this market. No new airlines will be added to the list.

This market will settle upon the first default of any LISTED company.

Resolution criteria:
- “Default” is met by the earliest time‑stamped public record of ANY of the following for the named issuer (consolidated):
  1) Missed due payment on financial debt (principal/interest) acknowledged in a standalone company notice/press release/regulator filing, or
  2) Rating‑agency default action (e.g., S&P ‘SD/D’, Fitch ‘RD/D’, Moody’s default designation) explicitly referencing the issuer’s debt event.
- Accepted sources (must be first public time‑stamp): issuer/company press release or standalone regulator/current‑report style filing; rating‑agency action page/press; court docket for bankruptcy/administration/liquidation.
- Ties: If two or more meet criteria the same calendar day, use the earliest verifiable UTC timestamp among accepted sources. If still indistinguishable, resolve to the earliest alphabetically among tied answers.
- Corporate actions: If a named company is acquired/merged before default, its answer remains valid only if the default pertains to the named issuer entity (or its direct successor). Otherwise it loses by inaction.
- Scope: Senior financial indebtedness only (convertibles acceptable if classified as debt). Trade payables and lease liabilities excluded unless explicitly treated as financial debt in the triggering notice.

Notes:
- If no LISTED airline meets the default criteria by 2029‑12‑31 23:59:59 UTC, resolve “Other”.

 - ALL OTHER AIRLINES ARE IRRELEVANT TO THIS MARKET AND DO NOT COUNT IN "OTHER"

  • Update 2025-11-20 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Spirit Airlines has already been downgraded to 'D' by Fitch in September, which meets the default criteria under resolution rule #2 (rating-agency default action). The creator has acknowledged this satisfies the resolution conditions.
