On July 16, 2025, Trump posted "I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!"
It's now being reported that Coke is going to develop a product that uses sugar. https://www.axios.com/2025/07/22/trump-coke-cane-sugar
This question is about whether they will predominantly replace their current US practices of using high fructose corn syrup with using real sugar.
If, as of July 1, 2026 the majority of Coca-Cola sold in the US uses corn syrup (including high fructose corn syrup or other corn syrups) then this will resolve yes.
If, as of July 1, 2026 the majority of Coca-Cola sold in the US uses sugar (I have in mind cane sugar, beet sugar, or something very close to those) then this will resolve no.
It doesn't matter what country the sweeteners come from for this question. This question also will ignore Diet Coke, Coke Zero, or other similar 0 calorie options. This will also ignore things like Sprite or other brands, but if the new non-low-calories cane sugar based Coke is called something other than Coca-Cola classic, that's fine, it will still count.
Ideal metric of comparison is volume sold, count of cans/bottles is second choice, third choice is by revenue.
