The EU AI Act "regulates the providers of artificial intelligence systems, and entities making use of them in a professional capacity." As of May 24, 2024, Metaculus expects the AI Act to be passed between Oct 2023 and Nov 2024, with a median of April 2024, though OpenAI could choose to cease offering ChatGPT in Europe earlier than that, or for some other reason entirely.
