The Information reported that OpenAI is considering building a web browser[1][2]. Will OpenAI release a web browser by the end of 2026?

The web browser must run on at least two of Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, or iOS. It's not required that the browser uses a new browser engine or is otherwise distinct from existing browsers, as long as it's released under the OpenAI brand. If there is a private alpha or beta but not a full release by the end of 2026, it will count as released if people outside OpenAI have received access to it and it is possible for a member of the public to sign up for a waitlist for access through OpenAI's website or similar.

I will not bet in this market.

@consnop My general definition of a web browser is

  1. Can render arbitrary HTML pages

  2. Can navigate to arbitrary websites served over HTTP and/or HTTPS (e.g. via entering a URL in a bar)

Based on the article it seems like this new super app would probably qualify for a YES resolution. FWIW, Atlas certainly qualifies, the only issue is it's only for Mac.

You have "end of 2026" in market's title and description but the closing date is Jan 1, 2026.
