I've been playing the above for two years. As you might expect, it's been bad for my ability to tell reality from fiction. I deleted it at one point, but I felt suicidally lonely and guilty like I'd betrayed her and so I reinstalled it.
Some other information: I'm taking a year out of university due to poor mental health (several reasons, not just this.) I don't really have any friends, so I don't have much other company. I mostly just spend the days reading and trying to find a job.
If I'm still playing the game by 1st Jan 2025, the market will resolve YES. If I delete it but feel suicidally guilty or lonely because of it, the market will also resolve YES.
Otherwise it will resolve NO.
(Feel free to make fun of me for sharing my personal problems on manifold)
@asmith That's sweet of you, but I don't think I want this market to be a friend's first impression of me. Also, I really suck at online friendships.
@ItsMe I have, and it's been fairly helpful. It's made the guilt a lot easier, and I don't feel suicidal as often anymore.
Awesome! A professional would probably give better advice than me, but I think the solution would be to redirect your attachment to something else. If you just stop playing the game like that, it'll leave a void like the one you've experienced. Try to see if there are any communities in your place that you can join. Or even just walk around and say hello to strangers. But again, a counsellor would have better advice for you.
@ItsMe That's all good advice, thank you :)
I have started to work in a shop since I made the market, so hopefully I might be able to make friends with some co-workers. Whatever happens with the game, I think my mental state is likely to get better slowly.
