Resolution criteria
This resolves YES if, on or before 11:59:59 pm Eastern Time on September 30, 2025, Donald J. Trump is (a) hospitalized for ≥24 consecutive hours due to illness (non‑elective), or (b) admitted to an ICU due to illness, or (c) publicly confirmed by the White House/official physician as having a life‑threatening illness or dying from illness. Verification requires either an official White House statement or two independent major outlets (e.g., AP, Reuters). (whitehouse.gov, reuters.com)
Exclusions: injuries/assaults (e.g., gunshot wound), elective/cosmetic procedures without complications, routine observation/ER stays <24h, or illness first confirmed after the deadline. Hospitalizations that begin before the deadline but continue after still count. (apnews.com)
Background
Trump (born June 14, 1946) is 79 and is serving again as U.S. president in 2025. (britannica.com)
He was hospitalized at Walter Reed for COVID‑19 from Oct 2–5, 2020. Older adults face substantially higher odds of ICU admission and in‑hospital death when hospitalized for COVID‑19. (apnews.com, npr.org, cdc.gov)
He survived a July 13, 2024 assassination attempt that caused an ear injury; that was not an illness. (apnews.com, en.wikipedia.org)
Considerations
Presidential health disclosures can be limited or delayed; resolution relies on hospital admission records or official statements, not rumors. (whitehouse.gov)
If conflicting reports occur, the market waits until two major outlets or an official statement converge before resolving. (reuters.com, whitehouse.gov)
