On my upcoming survey, I will ask the following question:
Are you a furry?
Yes, definitely
Yes, but I am in denial
Maybe, I am furry adjacent
No, but my interests overlap with furries
No, not at all
I will consider these results, respectively, to represent a person being 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0% furry. Resolves to the average furriness of respondents. If it's exactly on the boundary between two bins, both bins resolve to 50%.
See Plasma's Manifold Survey for other questions about the survey.
The survey is officially out! You can take it here: https://forms.gle/xZqWVxuY5irgLigu9
@Odoacre I assumed from your pfp that you probably were a furry. Though if you don't know what one is, that means you're probably not, at least not fully. You could still be furry-adjacent.
@JosephNoonan I'm not sure I understand the concept of furry. I've tried reading up on it and I don't think I am, but I don't think I really get it either. My pfp is fluid and does not have any true relationship with my identity. It used to be a picture of my cat, but then I changed it to an AI generated image just in case someone could recognise me from my cat.
@Shelvacu Presumably, someone who claims not to be a furry, or at least doesn't affirmatively adopt the label, but deep down knows that they really are one. Or someone who uses some technicality to say that they're not a furry but still has too strong of an interest in anthropomorphic animals to really be considered "not a furry".
Furries kinda make the internet run, so I would expect high numbers
Maybe I should have split the bins up differently. I was assuming that furries would be overrepresented on Manifold due to a combination of Manifold having lots of tech-workers and nerds, as well as fact that I've seen multiple users who are open about being furries, but maybe I didn't adjust enough. I think the scale I'm using probably also pushes the percentage higher because even if someone isn't a furry, they can still be counted as partially furry.
