I am a 34 year old software engineer, have worked Boeing -> Microsoft -> Amazon, and am financially comfortable for the moderate-term. Currently undecided when I will try to return to gainful employment, but it would very likely be in the tech sector if it happens.

In the last 14 months I have spent about 8 months on a solo road trip through the contiguous 48 states, spending 2-10 days in each, camping at parks, airBnBs in cities, staying with friends.

I then spent a few weeks in Japan, and then a month in SF for Less.Online and Manifest, where several people recommended I move to SF, and where I recommended the same to others. I then returned to Seattle for a couple weeks to couch surf.

I am currently in Edinburgh, on Europe trip stop 1 of 13 planned.

I intend to return to Japan this fall for one to two months.

I have no plans past that point.

This question asks where, on August 1, 2027, will be the closest thing I have to a permanent address.

I will not bet in this market.
