Her name is Ada. She's about 5 years old as of 2022. African Grey Parrots have a life expectancy of ~45 years in captivity, but they're subject to a number of diseases and other conditions that can kill them without much warning. (Parrots try to hide health issues so as not to display weakness to potential predators, making it difficult to know anything is wrong before it's very serious.)

I will update this market description whenever something new comes up that might impact her health.

Oct 4, 12:14pm: Recently she's started making small wheezing or whistling noises while my partner is petting her before bed. Breathing issues are a serious problem for parrots, and parrots that have started wheezing while they breathe are very likely to die. But Ada is only doing it while she's being cuddled and not at other times, which makes me think it's just a behavioral change and not a health issue. She's going into the vet today, I'll post an update once we have it.

Oct 4, 11:44pm: Ok, vet says she's fine

Oct 12, 8:19pm: She's still making the noises though...

Jan 31: She's started plucking out some feathers. Not serious yet but a few were bloody. Doesn't seem to be regular molting.
