I spent a bunch of my childhood on a public Minecraft server called Thinghunter. It's been dead for a long time now. I would like to have a copy of the world files for nostalgia purposes. This is proving difficult.
Thinghunter had its own forums, and when it went down, the owner posted the world files for download there. Unfortunately the forums themselves are now offline. You can find the posts on the internet archive, but the download links don't work.
The owner's username was RAY0911. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have much of an online presence, and upon researching him a bit recently, I discovered that most of it seems to be devoted to gay porn. I tried messaging him on Instagram, but it doesn't seem like he uses that account anymore.
There were a number of other mods on the server who might also have access, plus a bunch of users probably downloaded it and have their own copy.
I'll pay M$50,000 to anyone who gets me a full copy of all of the world files. (Including old ones; the server would sometimes do a world reset to let people claim new land, and if one happened after I quit, my buildings would not be in the last world file. So I want the older ones too.)
If you're able to get only some of the files, I'll pay a partial bounty in rough proportion to how much of what I wanted is in there.
Resolves NO if nobody succeeds by the end of January. (If I find them myself, or someone outside of Manifold does it, market still resolves YES, there's just no bounty.)
Update 2025-12-03 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The market title has been updated to clarify that finding any save file (not necessarily all world files) is sufficient for YES resolution. The full bounty still requires all world files, but partial findings may receive partial bounties without affecting the YES/NO resolution.
So the title asks if you will manage to find "a" save file, but the bounty is about finding a full copy of all the world files (which seems a lot harder ig?). it also says "Resolves NO if nobody succeeds by the end of January". So.. is the market resolving YES if you find all world files or only at least one?
