Background
President Trump has historically made limited references to Africa in his public speeches. During his inauguration speech, he did not mention Africa at all, which raised concerns about the continent's place in his administration's priorities. In a recent address to Congress, Trump mentioned Africa only briefly, referencing an $8 million appropriation to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion in Lesotho.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve as YES if President Trump explicitly mentions Africa, any African country, or any African leader by name in any public speech, address, rally, press conference, or other public speaking engagement within 14 days from market creation.
The market will resolve as NO if:
Trump does not make any public speeches within the 14-day period
Trump makes public speeches but does not mention Africa or any African country/leader
The 14-day period passes without any qualifying mention
For resolution purposes:
"Public speech" includes formal addresses, press conferences, campaign rallies, impromptu remarks to reporters, and other public speaking engagements
Social media posts alone do not count as "public speech"
The mention must be audible in official recordings or transcripts
Passing references count (e.g., "We're doing great deals with countries from Africa to Asia")
