While much less publicly prominent than the Mayor, the Speaker of the City Council is the second most powerful elected official in the city. The current Speaker, Adrienne Adams, is term-limited. This market will resolve to whomever is elected Speaker of the New York City Council for the 2026-27 session. Anyone elected as "interim" Speaker or any other temporary position will not be considered Speaker for the purposes of this market.
