Resolution criteria
This market resolves YES if Austin LessWrong officially bans at least one person from the group during 2026. A ban is defined as an explicit removal of membership or prohibition from attending group events/spaces, as documented through official group communications (email announcements, website updates, or public statements from group organizers). The ban must be announced or confirmed by group leadership.
This market resolves NO if no such ban occurs during 2026.
Background
Austin LessWrong is the local Austin rationalist meetup group where members get together to practice rationality and meet other like-minded rationalist people. The group has been meeting consistently for at least 10 years and holds weekly in-person meetups on Saturday afternoons (structured discussion) and Tuesday evenings (casual dinner or games).
Considerations
Community moderation practices vary significantly. While the broader LessWrong online platform has documented moderation policies including bans, local meetup groups typically operate with different norms and enforcement mechanisms. Austin LessWrong's informal structure as a recurring social group may make formal bans less common than on the online platform, though the group's size and activity level could create scenarios where membership restrictions become necessary.
