In 2021, Mastercard developed a new policy that restricts how adult content can be present on websites that use Mastercard for payment. In a complaint to the FTC, the ACLU and other organizations requested that the FTC open an investigation into this policy, claiming that it "is an unfair business practice under Section 5 of the FTC Act, causes substantial, unavoidable harms to sex workers with no demonstrable benefit, and is within the purview of the FTC’s enforcement authority".

Will the FTC open an investigation by the end of 2024?

I've set the end date to be the end of 2024, both since it needed a time frame that wasn't too long, and because that may represent a shift in FTC policy depending on the results of the 2024 presidential election.
