When will Windows 12 officially release?
Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to the official release date of Windows 12 (or the first major successor operating system to Windows 11, even if released under a different name).
Official Release Date: Defined as the date of General Availability (GA) when Windows 12 first becomes officially available for download from Microsoft's website or when Windows 12 laptops can be bought (whichever comes first). Beta, Developer, Insider Preview, but OEM-only RTM releases count.
Time Zone: The release date will be calculated in Eastern Time (ET).
Source of Truth: Official announcements from Microsoft, primarily via the Windows Experience Blog or the Microsoft News Center. As a fall-back, news sources will be used instead.
Naming: If Microsoft releases the successor to Windows 11 but names it something other than "Windows 12" (like "Windows Next" or "Windows AI" or other), that release date will still qualify. Minor version updates like Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 don't count.
If Windows 12 (or whatever OS comes after Windows 11) is not released by 2031, market resolves all options to NO
Background
Microsoft doesn't seem to have any plans for releasing a new major version of Windows soon (Pavan Davuluri (@pavandavuluri) on X ). Microsoft seems content working on refining Windows 11 and improving its start-menu and adding more features and increasing performance and the like.
