Notepad++ is a useful replacement for the fairly dumb default text editing program on PC/windows.

Will it ever have a features, so that for example, at the top of this screen, I'd be able to enter a short term which would be matched against ALL of the many configuration options, to filter them down and find the one I wanted?

The author constantly updates the software, so this would be a natural thing to add...
