History

  • At end 2023, it was pretty relaxed

  • Then after the NTSB in early 2024, it was intensely crazy and would constantly ding you

  • Today it is very relaxed - only dinging me to put my hands on every 5-9 minutes, and I can basically do anything I want while Elon is driving (FSD is engaged).

  • When I do get asked to do something, it makes me either shake the wheel lightly (white) or hard (blue flash). At this point it's fairly annoying.

  • I'm not doing things like reading while driving or anything nuts - I'm mostly watching the road. But I may be doing things like holding or moving things around in the seats etc. w/my hands and they are not on the wheel sometimes.

  • There is speculation that this is so relaxed for me due to my sunglasses, which make it harder for it to judge me as doing something bad. (And remember, nearly all other cars don't have this camera at all, so their drivers are allowed to do whatever while they "drive"). This is partially backed up by how generally the monitor is a lot less strict at night (when the base illumination of my face is lower, glasses or not, so it's also defaulting to not worrying about it unless it can clearly see an issue)

Question

  • Will the form of these or similar mandated attention warnings become softer or easier to a noticeable level by end sep 2024?

  • Either things like even further reduction of required attention, or a new version of this which is easier or more comfy to manage (while still driving safely), or complete removal would all count.

  • If the same system is in place by end, and its not very noticeably less sensitive, and is still basically constantly monitoring and tracking me, then that cannot YES.

Update so far: It seems about the same. Newer updates have made it occasionally be very reluctant to drive in situations where previously it would be fine, and it still loves loves loves to merge into a lane just a few feet behind the leading car, going 50+ mph, and not do what I'd do, and gently slow down to let the distance increase
