People are also trading
Best for what? Teaching a code of ethics? Giving life meaning? Actually empowering people to reduce suffering? Giving people a sense of being part of something bigger than themselves? Assessing how each does on these various aspects of what religion is for might be more fun/inspiring/interesting than whatever you're trying to do here.
@WilliamGunn The one that's best at conquering and subjugating infidels. Christianity and Islam are the only serious contenders.
@EnopoletusHarding I think it's mostly atheists who follow secular ethical philosophies (e.g. utilitarianism, virtue ethics, deontology etc.)
@EnopoletusHarding Very well, personally my choice out of any religion/philosophy is utilitarianism.
If restricted to only the named choices in the poll, it becomes much more difficult. I know a medium amount about what Christianity, Islam, and Judaism say about the universe and morality, but I also very strongly disagree with the teachings of all but the most strongly revisionist liberal denominations. Meanwhile, I only have an extremely basic understanding of what Buddhism, Taoism, and Sikhism say, and I know literally nothing about the teachings of Jainism and Shinto, so it's hard to decide whether they're likely to be better or worse than the Abrahamic religions.
Btw is there a reason why relatively small religions such as Sikhism and Jainism were included but not Hinduism, Confucianism, and Chinese folk religion?
@EnopoletusHarding and Christianity isn't? There's like dozens and dozens of denominations with very different teachings
