This question concerns the UCI's 2024 season, starting now and running through the end of the 2024 season, expected to be late in October 2024. A win in the calendar year 2023 but 2024 UCI season counts for this question and a win in the calendar year 2024 but 2025 UCI season does not count.
Unbelievable, but even with this many names listed, we missed the TWO youngest to win so far. The current second place was just last week at Taihu Lake, but 1st place was in July and we all just forgot about it. Cameron Rogers in the Prologue of Tour of Austria. I remember when this happened, but didn't realize he was THAT young. Beat Ganna by a second.
Up to this point, the best I've found is Paul Magnier who won on 25 January, at the age of 7225 days.
Second place is currently Jan Christen, who won his first race of the season on 10 April at the age of 7228 days. He could have taken the lead if he had won just 3 or 4 days sooner! Incredibly tight.
In third is Joshua Tarling, whose win on 28 February was at the age of 7312 days.
Emil Herzog just passed out of contention, he's now 7234 days old. It looks like Sente Sentjens has mostly raced a U23 calendar so he's probably not going to get a ton of chances, but young riders often get to do bigger races late in the season. And then AJ August has been knocking on the door this week with a good showing in Czech Tour.
I'm adding Jarno Widar to the list of candidates, because he's shown a lot of good results in the U23 category and could easily get called up to do a .1 race with the main team this fall.
@CHGJ Looks like Tarling did his thing AS EXPECTED, but Magnier was, of course, younger.
Now, when is August racing next?
