OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon has written on OpenAI's behalf to oppose SB 1047. (See, e.g., https://r2.maginative.com/ca-sb-1047-openai-opposition-letter.pdf?ref=maginative.com) but has also recently said that OpenAI has "always believed that AI should be regulated, and that commitment remains unchanged."(https://www.chosun.com/english/people-en/2024/08/12/AHHGWNJKLFEWZIPR6NTHTUEHFA/)
Max Tegmark has called on Kwon (https://x.com/tegmark/status/1826668229785518267) to specifically spell out specific rules and standards that all AI companies should be held to. Will Kwon (or OpenAI in a corporate manner) do so publicly by 31 December 2024 ?
Proposals that OpenAI has already supported don't count, including the proposals on page 3 of the letter. Nonpublic proposals don't count, unless I judge it likely that OpenAI planted a leak as a "trial balloon".
Will resolve based on my best sense of the matter.
Update 2025-17-01 (PST): - The market will be resolved to NO in 48 hours unless a strong objection is raised. (AI summary of creator comment)
