My girlfriend had a minor, common surgery done laparoscopically. Apparently they use Co2 to inflate the abdominal cavity, and this causes referred pain in the shoulders as the body processes it out.

She had a 2/10 shoulder pain yesterday evening, after waking up from surgery & being at home for a few hours. We drove home from surgery at 11:00am, and her 2/10 was most of the evening. She's been taking Ibuprophen, then Acetaminophen, alternating, every 4hr; no additional pain meds other than the ones used while she was under for now (and we don't anticipate any additional ones). A nurse, who we told we were planning to avoid the opiods, mentioned that the 3rd day might be the worst for pain; but the surgeon seemed to think we it wouldn't be as bad as we seemed to expect because it's a really minor surgery.

If, on the evening of Jan 23rd, she subjectively thinks her pain is less bad than it was on the 21st, this market resolves NO. If she thinks the pain is worse, this market resolves YES. If she thinks it's the same, this resolves 50%. If she ends up taking more/different pain meds from the 4hr schedule above, this market resolves N/A. But if she takes less, you still get a YES/NO/50%. She'll try to avoid a 50% resolution; neither I nor her will bet in this market.

Update: We reduced the meds last night, and shoulder pain got to 4/10 during the period when she had almost no meds in her system. This morning, waking up was fine (even with taking no meds during the night). Back on regular 4hr meds schedule starting at 8:15 eastern, and she's currently feeling good (10:45am eastern).

We don't have any major guesses how she'll feel this evening.

Feel free to ask questions if you have them!
