NO

Resolves according to the most common pronunciation in news shows in August when I check at the end of the month. I may resolve 50% if it's too close to call. If people want, I can formalize this with objective criteria later.

General policy for my markets: In the rare event of a conflict between my resolution criteria and the agreed-upon common-sense spirit of the market, I may resolve it according to the market's spirit or N/A, probably after discussion.

Listened to his pronunciation in a few random clips from August from news outlets across the political spectrum. They’re all Duh-Santis (or at least Dih-Santis)

There is no such thing as "the media". There are millions of outlets

I don't understand the DeeSantis (/diː/) thing. /də/ is a perfectly normal phoneme for English speakers. The /ə/ sound used in words like reserve, report, pencil. Even /dɪ/ would make sense: denial... but the long /i:/ just has a tragicomic quality. Is it an attempt at self flagellation? Is he sacrificing his own name to the absurdity of de-ethicized mispronunciation, claiming to be so "American" that he doesn't know how to pronounce it?

It's a new affectation because he ran for governor twice in Florida pronouncing his name with a /də/. People in North FL do pronounce his name as: "Rhonda Santis" so maybe he just doesn't want to sound like a chainsmoking secretary.

What about "dih-santis" as in the i in "will"

@8 Hmm, depends on the exact sound. I tend to think it’s closer to the schwa of “duh”
