Will Manifest regret telling everyone to fill out the survey in 5 minutes?

During the Manifest closing ceremony, @Austin gave all guests like 5 minutes to fill out the survey, and when they were done they'd get 1000 mana and come join the group picture. Since I was trying to provide thorough feedback, I was one of the last people to submit the survey, and felt a lot of peer pressure to just submit it already. Most of the questions on the survey were free response.

Compared to just emailing the survey out, I imagine this will increase number of responses at the cost of thoroughness. I'm curious whether this will end up being more useful for planning a hypothetical Manifest 2024.

I will resolve once Austin, @saulmunn, or someone with similar authority to speak on behalf of Manifest tell me whether they regret doing this move or not.

General policy for my markets: In the rare event of a conflict between my resolution criteria and the agreed-upon common-sense spirit of the market, I may resolve it according to the market's spirit or N/A, probably after discussion.

Alright, I’ve talked to Saul. He does not at all regret telling everyone to do the survey live compared to the standard emailing-it-out thing, but regrets giving people only 5 minutes instead of, say, 10.

According to my rule in the comments below, the market should resolve NO, but I emphasized the 5 minutes in the title, so I sort of feel like I should resolve 50% as a compromise. There’s no textualist justification for this except my italics paragraph, but I think it’s fair.

I should probably stop making markets with “regret” in the title since it’s such an ambiguous word. But what do y’all think?

No strong opinion here, 50% is alright

my opinion is formed, but i want more clarification on what counts as regretting vs not regretting before i go public with it. i think my opinion might make this tricky to resolve.

@saulmunn I didn’t mean anything fancy. Regret = you think it’d have been better to do the normal thing where you email out the feedback form and ask people nicely to do it.

@Conflux so, it counts as regret if & only if i think it would have been better to “email out the feedback form and ask people nicely to do it” rather than “tell everyone to fill out the feedback form in 5 minutes”?

@saulmunn I think so, yeah. Though now I’m worried it doesn’t match up with my intention in some corner case I hadn’t thought of. Maybe it makes sense for you to DM me the situation?

@saulmunn probably good for you to commit to not buying on this market first?

@saulmunn Yeah, I won’t bet on this market.

I had the same thought when filling it out. I kind of blitzed through the final few questions so I could get in on the group picture.
