MALINDA, a song artist who I've followed on YouTube for years (both her Google Translate Sings covers and also her original music!), is going on tour. Tickets are only $20 ($45 for VIP) for her Wed., October 4 show at 8pm at Cafe Du Nord, about 20 mins from Proof School by public transit. I've never been to a proper concert like this before, but this seemed like a perfect opportunity! Probably much cooler than the Eras Tour. Also, @ithildulin (who told me about this concert) and family have tickets.

However, since I live in Menlo Park, getting home at a reasonable time is a problem — I'm not sure how late the concert will go. Combined with the fact that it's during Week 6 of Block 1 of my senior year (when grades matter most for college apps), my mom said I couldn't go to this concert. (Even though I feel like Weeks 4 and 5 are worse; also, I will inevitably procrastinate at some point, might as well go to a concert while doing it? I will also mention that my Connie lit class is on Friday, not Thursday.)

So, will I convince my parents to let me go? (They're typically supportive of events, but consistent in their answers to whether I'm allowed to do things.) This would most likely involve some subset of

• better plan/legitimacy of event (like more Proofniks going)

• event details changing to make it more reasonable

• me spending a lot of parental lobbying points on going to this particular event (or rebellious teenager points...)

Another variable is that tickets might sell out at some point. I find it hard to predict if and when this will happen; I guess I could look at past MALINDA shows.

Overall I'm a bit resigned to not going to this event, but also still looking for a way to make it work!

In case she reschedules the show or adds new ones or something, this market resolves based on whether I see any MALINDA show on the It's All True tour. But currently I believe the October 4 show is the only possibility. I will resolve NO once it's effectively certain that I won't go to that show and there are no other Bay Area tour dates - I'll re-resolve later if that happens and I somehow end up seeing a different show on this tour.

General policy for my markets: In the rare event of a conflict between my resolution criteria and the agreed-upon common-sense spirit of the market, I may resolve it according to the market's spirit or N/A, probably after discussion.
