I’m seeing a live performance of Evita in St. Louis tonight with friends. I don’t know much about it, just the very basic plot.
I have somewhat high standards for musicals. Hamilton is my favorite musical.
Resolves 50% if I am neutral on the experience.

I enjoyed hanging out with my friends, but was pretty neutral on the musical. I nearly left after Act 1 with some of my friends, but decided to stick until Act 2.
I thought the theater was gorgeous, and the choreography / musicality was good. I felt that the plot was a bit one-dimensional, almost like what an AI might produce if given the summary. It was at times hard to follow and I used the wikipedia plot summary. Overall I found the experience to be a meditation on populism; here was a pair of leaders giving a performance (almost a proto-version of contemporary political performance) that the public went crazy for, within a performance that the public is going crazy for. People gave a standing ovation but I did not, I thought it was okay but not standing ovation-worthy. I hate the social pressure to cave and give a standing ovation
@Conflux I wish I profited on the resolution but your answer was honest and I rated you 5 stars in psrt because you didn't give a standing O. Every fuckin show gets a standing O nowadays, it's wacky.
