Resolved
YES

I tried once, a few months ago. I failed.

Autopsy was unclear but I my five hours of sleep + Clif bar made my stomach hurt in a way where I didn’t want to push through.

I’ve always wanted redemption. This time I am fairly motivated to sleep enough the night before, and push through. I’m a little behind on CS homework though so I might go to bed too late.

It’s 18 miles but that doesn’t scare me. I’ve done 30. What does scare me is the elevation profile. 650 ft climb. I hate uphills. We’re going up Sand Hill Road way past Hwy 280, and that’s so much uphill. In the past when I’ve gotten to 280 I’ve already felt drained.

The cycling club is very friendly, and it’s a no drop ride so they won’t leave me behind for being too slow, but they’re all very intense at biking so I will probably be the slowest, and that may hurt psychologically. I have been unable to convince a friend to come with me this week.

Anyway, resolves YES if I wake up in time and complete the full ride. Resolves NO if I decide to sleep in, skip it, or quit for any reason.

General policy for my markets: In the rare event of a conflict between my resolution criteria and the agreed-upon common-sense spirit of the market, I may resolve it according to the market's spirit or N/A, probably after discussion.

Bro betted on his market right before resolving it type shi 😭 🙏

@musuko384 I bet during the coffee stop - there was a window to bet after me. I did not bet right before resolving. I agree the coffee stop was a big probability update, but if I didn't bet the windfall would just go to whoever was the fastest

Also I only profited like 250 from that

@Conflux Dude I dont have a problem with whatever you did 😭 I was just surprised / amused

I did it!

bought Ṁ2,250 YES

11.25 miles in, made it up the main uphills and got to the coffee shop we stop at! (Thus the name.) This avocado toast is easily worth $7…

There goes my normal wake up alarm, lol.

At the top of the big uphill, I felt like I was going to puke, and my credence on this market dropped to like 50 or 60%. Fortunately, the bikers stopped for an extra 5 minutes and gave me a bar. Turns out that when you’re biking, nausea is actually a symptom of hunger? Anyway, the downhill after that was glorious. I think I slightly overestimated the amount of uphill, I’d basically done it all before. I feel like last time I dropped out at sort of a silly point… (actually it was reasonable based on how I was feeling then but still)

Anyway dropping out now is basically a non sequitur, rest of the ride is just back to Stanford. But I suppose if I get hit by a car the mods can resolve this one NO for me.

I’m quite happy!

I’m here and ready! 6.75 hours of sleep and one yogurt.

Market is definitely too high, though. Already feeling a bit of stomach queasiness that worries me. And I learned 280 (where I dropped out last time) is barely halfway up the hill. But I feel a strong urge to finish. I flagged my situation to the people running the coffee ride.

@Conflux I’m taking my backpack, but I removed my computer.

bought Ṁ500 YES

@Conflux going to bed now- nice and early!

@Conflux actually I might read a book for a bit but I should be sleeping soon enough to wake up easily at 6:30

@Conflux Awake

opened a Ṁ1,000 YES at 75% order

I’m betting for motivation, not necessarily belief btw
